The moviemakers clearly hope so, pitching Rise Of An Empire as the putative second chapter in an ongoing saga with more than one field of adjacent activity. Turns out, you see, that the Battle of Thermopylae was not the only skirmish in Greece around BC. Hey, it worked for The Bourne Legacy … until people saw it. Interestingly, though, Empire strives to make a virtue of its second-banana status by making its entire story one of inadequacy and belittlement.

Directed by: Noam Murro. It isn't exactly a sequel though, as the events depicted in it occur before, during, and after the Battle of Thermopylae in BC, which the first movie covered in gory detail. Like its predecessor it is a highly stylized, CGI heavy, gore fest, that features rivers of blood spurting in slow motion. Although I didn't see it in 3D, as I'm not a fan of the technology, I actually recommend seeing it that way. The special effects are the best thing it has going for it.
